Glossary

Section Digit Codes Description

Brand

F–First Co

First Co. is the manufacturer of all First Co and AE Air products.

Cabinet

A–44”x27”x23”

Size of cabinet

Filter Type

1”, 2”, 4” temp or perm
MERV 8, 10, 11, 13, 14
1–1” temp 2 or 4-sided
2–1” or 2” temp 4-sided
4–1” or 4” temp 4-sided
6–2” perm + 4” 4-sided

Temporary / disposable and permanent filters are available in a variety of thicknesses and MERV ratings. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at trapping air particles.

Heat Exchanger

C–Copper
N–Cupro-Nickel

Copper offers high thermal conductivity, ideal for fast heat exchange, but less corrosion-resistant. Cupro-Nickel has lower thermal conductivity, but far superior corrosion resistance and mechanical durability, making it more suited for harsh environments.

Return Air Location

LH–Left Hand
RH–Right Hand

Select the side of the unit to which you would like the Return Air fed.

Series

WSV, WSH
WHSC

Name of product family

Supply Air Location

E–End
S–Side / Straight
T–Top

Select the side of the unit from which you would like the Supply Air released.

Unit Size

CFM

An air-conditioner’s unit size or nominal capacity is the output level it can handle when functioning in either cooling or heating mode. Cubic feet per minute (CFM) measures how much airflow volume passes through a space in a minute.

Voltage

208-230 / 1Ph / 60Hz
208-230 / 3Ph / 60Hz
265 / 1Ph / 60Hz
460 / 3Ph / 60Hz

Voltage is the electrical pressure that pushes an electric current through a circuit. Higher voltage indicates a more powerful pressure. Most HVAC systems use with 115 (120)V or 230V depending on size and capacity.

Water Circuit

F–Front
G–Economizer w/3-Way Valve

Front placement of the water circuit is standard. A water circuit uses a three-way valve with an Economizer to divert water through a coil and cool the air, which can reduce the need to use a compressor. This process is called “free cooling” and can help reduce energy consumption and operating costs.

OPTIONS

Cabinet Insulation

0–Std Fiberglass
A–Closed Cell Foam
B–Foil Faced Insulation
C–Compressor Jacket
E–Ext Temp Range / Geothermal
F–Geothermal + Sound Kit
S–Sound Kit (Closed Cell +Compressor Jacket)

Cabinet, Sound and General Insulation is available in a variety of types and can be selected based on specific product or environmental needs. Closed Cell Foam insulation is made from a dense foam of tightly packed “closed cells” which provides high thermal resistance. Foil-Face Insulation has a reflective foil layer attached to one or both sides which reflects radiant heat, reducing heat transfer. A Compressor Jacket wraps around the compressor unit to reduce noise and minimize heat transfer. Geothermal Insulalation involves the use of ground-source heat pumps to transfer underground temperatures to a building as a wayto naturally insulate the HVAC system.

Control

0-Std w/out Service Switch
A-Std w/Service Switch
B-DDC w/Service Switch

The Standard Relay controls the operation of the blower fan, turning it on and off per the system’s call. The Service Switch provides a simple and direct way to turn off power to the HVAC unit without needing to access the electrical panel or main breaker. A Dedicated Digital Controller (DDC) is a microprocessor-based device used to monitor and control specific HVAC equipment digitally, typically part of a building management system.

Dehumidifier

0–None
H–Hot Gas Reheat w/DDC

A dehumidifier with Hot Gas Reheat (HGRH) dehumidifies air and then reheats it without using additional energy. This can be scheduled and controlled by a Dedicated Digital Control system.

General

000–No Options
00E–E-Coating
0V0–Vacated Premise Switch

E-Coating involves applying a protective coating to fin coils to improve corrosion resistance, enhance efficiency and reduce maintenance. A Vacated Premise Switch can be activated manually or automatically based on occupancy, making sure the system operates only when needed, reducing energy waste and costs.
