Section Digit Codes Description

Brand

F–First Co.

First Co. is a leading manufacturer of multi-occupant and commercial industry HVAC products.

Coil
Configuration
Coil 1, 2, 3

Q–Quarter Circuit
H–Half Circuit
F–Full Circuit

The terms “quarter,” “half,” and “full” refer to the portion of the coil surface or structure that is used in a specific setup to heat the air flowing through it. A full coil provides maximum heat transfer and is used when the highest level of heating is needed. A half coil provides moderate heat transfer and is used when partial heating is sufficient. A quarter coil provides minimal heat transfer and is used when little heating is required.

Coil
Connection
Side

L–Left Hand
R–Right Hand

The hot water supply should be connected to the bottom connection of the coil on one side. Please select which side of the unit you prefer the coil connection.

Drain Pan

P–Polymer
G–Standard Galvanized Steel
S–Stainless Steel

Polymer composed drain pans do not rust or corrode when exposed to moisture, making them ideal for environments with high humidity or water exposure. Galvanized Steel Drain Pans are a cost-effective option with moderate corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel Drain offer superior durability and corrosion resistance.

Insulation

S–Std Fiberglass
C–Closed Cell Foam
F–Foil Faced Insulation

General Insulation is available in a variety of types and can be selected based on specific product or environmental needs. Closed Cell Foam insulation is made from a dense foam of tightly packed “closed cells” which provides high thermal resistance. Foil – Face Insulation has a reflective foil layer attached to one or both sides which reflects radiant heat, reducing heat transfer.

Motor Control

0–None
M–Direct Drive Control
F–Motor Disconnect Box
S–Motor Starter Box
B–Motor Starter Kit

In a direct drive system, the motor is directly connected to the equipment , typically resulting in less maintenance. A motor disconnect box can be used to safely shut off the electrical power for maintenance or emergency purposes and is required by electrical codes in many locations. A motor starter box is used to control the starting and stopping of a motor and often includes overload protection.

Motor Horsepower

A ¼ HP
B 1/3 HP
C ½ HP
D ¾ HP
E 1 HP

F 1 ½ HP
G 2 HP
H 3HP
J 5HP

The horsepower of a blower motor indicates the strength at which it can tune the blower fan. A higher horsepower blower motor will typically result in faster air circulation.

Motor Type

P–PSC(Belt Drive)
E–ECM(Direct Drive)
V–0-10V (Direct Drive)

Permanent Split Capacitor motors run at a fixed speed and operate at full power regardless of the demand for heating or cooling. Electronically Commutated Motors are a type of variable speed motor with built – in inverters and microprocessors that adjust speed based on demand . The variable speed motor operates up to 10 volts and relies on varying the electrical input’s frequency and voltage to control motor speed, while the motor is directly connected to the fan or blower.

Unit Size

CFM

An air-conditioner’s unit size or nominal capacity is the output level it can handle when functioning in either cooling or heating mode. Cubic feet per minute (CFM) measures how much airflow volume passes through a space in a minute.

Voltage

115/ 1Ph / 60Hz
208 / 1Ph / 60Hz, 208 / 3Ph / 60Hz
230 / 1Ph / 60Hz, 230 / 3Ph / 60Hz
277 / 1Ph / 60Hz
460 / 3Ph / 60Hz
575 / 3Ph / 60Hz

Voltage is the electrical pressure that pushes an electric current through a circuit. Higher voltage indicates a more powerful pressure. Most HVAC systems use with 115 (120)V or 230V depending on size and capacity.

OPTIONS

Filter Frame

0–Standard
A–Angular
F–Flat

Angular filter frames are more specialized and typically used in high-efficiency filtration applications, while flat filter frames are versatile and common in everyday air filtration scenarios.

Filter Type

1”, 2”, 4” temp or perm
MERV 8, 10, 11, 13, 14

Temporary/disposable and permanent filters are available in a variety of thicknesses and MERV ratings. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at trapping air particles.

Mixing Box

0–None
M–Mixing Box

A mixing box can reduce energy costs by modulating the amount of cool and warm air to maintain the desired temperature by blending fresh air with recirculated air.

Plenum

0–None
P–Discharge

A discharge plenum is located immediately downstream of the blower or fan in the system and serves as the starting point for air distribution throughout the building.
